Barça Ready for Inaugural Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years since relocating so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a public practice at the Camp Nou on 7 November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from Uefa to host the next European match facing Eintracht on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
