Bullish Celtic's manager insists he is not worried about the sack yet the Parkhead faithful show anger following loss.
The under-pressure manager declared he was not afraid of dismissal, claiming, “The team is extremely close to things turning around,” even after edging perilously close to the chopping block with a comprehensive setback against the Ibrox side.
A Second-Half Meltdown Results in Derby Disaster
Celtic had led the visitors at the break but a collapse after the break let Danny Röhl’s team to draw level on points with the defending league title holders. The French coach, who was appointed from the MLS, has now presided over six losses in his last eight matches.
“We are together at the club,” stated the manager.
Asked directly about whether he was concerned, he replied: “It’s not on my mind. My focus is on discovering solutions to aid my players to excel on the fine details.
Protest On Display
Celtic’s support voiced their fury – directed at the board and manager – by protesting at full time. Club directors are reportedly likely to return to Martin O’Neill, who enjoyed a successful temporary stint previously, should a change be made.
“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. And that’s the truth for the moment. However by saying this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am pessimistic. No. The message is we are on the cusp, extremely close to reverse our form.”
“Really, Really Close”
Nancy remains focused on the fact Celtic show good levels for a half at a time. In fact, if not for missed chances they would have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives other than the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I know that we lost, but I must remain objective.
“The performance we had at stages was of top quality. That is a fact. I could not say that if it was different. Therefore, in terms of results, I mentioned we've seen this before. For that reason I feel a change is coming to getting it right. Right now: details, details, details.”
“We produced a lot of encouraging signs that we did, as was the case today. But now it’s about sustaining it. My message would change the same. Therefore I firmly believe the team can to turn things around.”
Opposition Reaction Response
Rangers manager was cautious about a serious challenge in spite of what seemed like a huge result. “We take it game by game, so we can really build up something here,” he said. “The belief in the group is immense.”
