Salah Extends Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah apologised to the team in the wake of the fallout from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a vital match following making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I understand there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not designed to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and securing victories.”
