The top legal official in Texas Paxton is suing the producers of Tylenol, alleging the corporations withheld potential risks that the drug presented to pediatric neurological development.

The court filing comes thirty days after Former President Trump promoted an unproven link between consuming acetaminophen - also known as paracetamol - during pregnancy and autism in children.

The attorney general is suing the pharmaceutical giant, which previously sold the medication, the sole analgesic recommended for women during pregnancy, and Kenvue, which now manufacturers it.

In a official comment, he said they "misled consumers by making money from pain and promoting medication regardless of the risks."

Kenvue asserts there is no credible evidence linking acetaminophen to autism spectrum disorder.

"These manufacturers lied for decades, intentionally threatening millions to line their pockets," Paxton, a Republican, declared.

The manufacturer stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the perpetuation of misinformation on the safety of acetaminophen and the potential impact that could have on the well-being of American women and children."

On its website, the company also stated it had "consistently assessed the applicable studies and there is insufficient valid information that demonstrates a verified association between using paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Groups speaking for doctors and medical practitioners concur.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has stated paracetamol - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is a restricted selection for expectant mothers to address discomfort and elevated temperature, which can present serious health risks if ignored.

"In over twenty years of research on the consumption of paracetamol in gestation, not a single reputable study has successfully concluded that the consumption of paracetamol in any stage of pregnancy causes neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the group commented.

The lawsuit mentions recent announcements from the Trump administration in arguing the drug is reportedly hazardous.

Recently, the former president raised alarms from medical authorities when he advised pregnant women to "fight like hell" not to take acetaminophen when sick.

The US Food and Drug Administration then published an announcement that medical professionals should think about restricting the consumption of Tylenol, while also stating that "a direct connection" between the medication and autism in children has remains unverified.

Health Secretary RFK Jr, who manages the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in spring to initiate "comprehensive study program" that would establish the cause of autism in a short period.

But specialists advised that finding a sole reason of autism - considered by experts to be the consequence of a complex mix of genetic and environmental factors - would not be simple.

Autism is a category of enduring cognitive variation and condition that influences how people perceive and relate to the environment, and is identified using physician assessments.

In his lawsuit, Paxton - who supports Trump who is seeking US Senate - alleges the manufacturer and J&J "deliberately disregarded and attempted to silence the research" around paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder.

The case attempts to require the corporations "remove any promotional materials" that states Tylenol is safe for expectant mothers.

The Texas lawsuit mirrors the concerns of a group of mothers and fathers of minors with autism and ADHD who sued the makers of Tylenol in recently.

A federal judge rejected the legal action, saying investigations from the plaintiffs' authorities was lacking definitive proof.
