Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
White House Invitation
The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to help others.”
Service plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and halt issuing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor said on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general informed a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
